When you hear the term Search Engine Optimization you often think of conversion rates, analytic software, keyword research, but what other ways can SEO benefit your website? How will SEO help you to keep people on your website longer, and ultimately lead them to act. I’ve outlined three of the most impressive ways proper SEO strategies can generate more traffic, and drive down bounce rates to your website.
1. User Experience – “I know what I want.”
When a user performs a search for your products or services, will they find you? If not, who will they find? If you can tap into your target audience and provide them a great user experience through search engine optimization. Let’s say a user searches for the term “black converse high tops size 8″ in google and comes across your website. By having an optimized product page for the exact item the user searched for, you’ve given them exactly what they wanted, and that is the basis for a great user experience. The next step, of course, is to make the user act, or remember your website.
2. Higher Quality Website Copy – “Just Do It”
Optimizing your site to match keywords searched by users, along with applying an action oriented copywriting style will allow you to pull more users in, staying on your website longer and driving them to act. The more relevant keywords your page contains, the more likely your users will find value in the page you created in relation to the search terms they just entered.
3. Semantics – Say what you mean.
Last, but not least, SEO is all about saying what you mean. Each page of your website has a purpose (or at least I hope it does), and when you optimize those pages you’re giving them clear meaning and defining their value to searchers across the web. All of this combined helps make your website cleaner, more organized, and properly indexed so that your target users will be able to find you.
